SDS Thursdays 2025 | Updated

08.08.2025

Our hugely popular SDS Thursdays continue to attract large audiences, and we are delighted to confirm new dates for 2025!

These FREE sessions are hosted by Dr Julia Budnik and led by Prof Paul Grantham, widely regarded as one of the UK’s best tutors on the selected topics. We will also continue to invite select guests to take part in our meetings. Join us live on Thursdays at 19.00 on Zoom, bring your questions on the topics and make these sessions into useful mini-tutorials.

2025 Update: Starting in 2025, we will continue to host Live SDS Thursdays for free, as before. However, the full recorded versions will no longer be uploaded to our free YouTube channel, but will instead be available exclusively to SDS Priority Members. This change aims to encourage more people to participate in the live sessions and will allow Members to receive a CPD certificate for the selected trainings as part of their Priority Membership.

Save the dates for Live SDS Thursdays 2025:

  • 25 September 2025 | ACT for Working with Eating Disorders and Obesity | With Professor Nuno Ferreira

Meet your tutor. Professor Nuno Ferreira is running a six-hour masterclass for us on the application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in the treatment of eating disorders and obesity. This masterclass will examine how the ACT approach to eating disorders and obesity differs from other contemporary models and will provide guidance on effectively supporting clients using ACT principles. Tonight is your chance to meet Nuno before the course and ask him your questions.

  • 16 October 2025 | Rumination, Overthinking, Safety Behaviours, Coping Strategies | Presentation of Two Brand New Courses with Paul Grantham

Join leading clinical psychologist Paul Grantham for the presentation of two brand new training courses designed to sharpen your clinical insight and enhance therapeutic effectiveness.

Explore the nuanced differences between rumination and overthinking, and learn how to work more effectively with clients caught in repetitive “What if” thinking. Then, examine the crucial - but often misunderstood - distinction between safety behaviours and coping strategies, and discover how recognising the difference can transform outcomes and reduce drop-out rates.

Essential for any practitioner wanting practical, evidence-based tools rooted in real clinical challenges.

  • 20 November 2025 | Practical Applications of Compassion Focused Therapy | New Course with Professor Nuno Ferreira

This free online event offers an opportunity to hear directly from Consultant Clinical Psychologist Professor Nuno Ferreira about his forthcoming training course on the Practical Applications of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

Drawing on his expertise in both Compassion Focused and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Professor Ferreira will outline how CFT can be effectively integrated into clinical practice to support clients struggling with shame, self-criticism, and emotional regulation. Developed by Professor Paul Gilbert, CFT is an evidence-based therapeutic model grounded in evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and behavioural theory.

This introductory session will explore the key themes and aims of the course, helping practitioners decide whether it is the right training for them.
