CBT: Introductory Course (BPS Approved Certificate)

Our most popular and critically acclaimed three-day intensive training on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - a highly effective, evidence-based therapeutic approach. The course has been developed and taught by accredited CBT therapists and multidisciplinary in nature. This course introduces you to CBT within a context of other therapeutic methods using a wide range of learning techniques: live demonstrations, video demonstrations, presentation, experiential exercises etc.

Socratic Questioning Workshop

Socratic Questioning is a psychotherapeutic key tool for both understanding a client’s perceptions and subsequently helping them to change them. It has been described by Padesky as “the cornerstone of cognitive therapy”, but can be used in other approaches as well as a useful communication tool.

This course is part of the training programme that enables you to complete the BPS Approved Master Practitioner Diploma in CBT.

Case Formulation Workshop

Case formulation is a framework used by CBT therapists to understand the origin, current status, and maintenance of the client's problems. Despite being often described as the core skill of every practitioner, the first principle and the cornerstone in CBT, Case Formulation appears to be puzzling and elusive for many practitioners.

This one-day course is set to demystify CFs and to provide the students with the solid foundation for CF work.

The course lays a great deal of emphasis on the practical application of case formulation to both case studies and/or delegates own cases.

Behavioural experiments are a key technique for helping clients to discover the reality behind their beliefs and to achieve successful personal change. This practical one day course will enable delegates to learn how to successfully design and use behavioural experiments with their clients, hence adding a powerful psychotherapeutic tool to their armoury.

This course takes delegates through a range of evidence based problem solving techniques to incorporate into their practice. Starting with D'Zurilla and Goldfried’s classic approach to problem solving, this course outlines and explores a wide range of additional problem solving techniques that can be effectively used with clients.

This course will be interesting and useful to therapists working in different clinical fields with a variety of clients, using a broad range of therapeutic modalities, not exclusively to those who practise CBT.

This course is part of the training programme that enables you to complete the BPS Approved Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. You can build up gradually your CBT training portfolio by attending all the courses within the programme at the pace that suits you. All your training hours will be calculated, recorded in an individual validated log and accumulated towards your full Diploma.

Interpreting Research in CBT
